'Felt Like A Nightmare’: Tesla Lays Off Employee After 5 Years Of Hard work
Ex-Tesla employee even started to sleep inside his car and take a shower in the factory to cut out the hour-and-a-half commute in 2021.

Even after working for years and proving their mettle, in recent times, many employees at the tech, IT sectors have to face the brunt of being laid off. Experiencing something similar in the tech industry, a Tesla employee was left in disbelief when he received the email that his position had been dissolved. He started working at the Elon Musk company in 2019 as an entry-level production associate. While speaking to Business Insider, the employee said that when he received the news of being laid off after five years of hard work, he felt like a nightmare.

During the conversation with the news outlet, the man shared, “I worked my way up at the company for over five years, eventually becoming a production supervisor. When I received the email stating that my position had been eliminated, I was already on my way to work. I decided to try my badge on the turnstile, but a security guard confiscated it and told me I’d be affected by the job cuts. It felt like a nightmare.”

“I worked really hard while I was at Tesla and wanted to be as efficient and productive as possible. My shifts at Tesla were long, normally lasting around 12 hours as I sometimes needed to stay even longer to get things done,” he added.

He went on to say that he even started to sleep inside his car and take a shower in the factory to cut out the hour-and-a-half commute in 2021. “The job felt like being an industrial athlete because we were constantly moving. I needed more rest to be efficient, productive, and friendly at work. Being awake and efficient at work was a priority for me. I needed more rest to achieve this, so cutting out my commute really helped.”

Elaborating further, the Ex-Tesla employee expressed that working at Tesla taught him to pivot quickly in life. He added, “You can’t dwell on things or complain because that doesn’t get you anywhere. When I found out I had been laid off, it felt like a grief moment. I was in disbelief.”

However, the Ex-Tesla employee concluded by saying that being laid off didn’t change his opinion of Tesla. He still really resonates with the company’s mission and what the company is trying to do. He worked hard for them, but that does not mean he plans to give up being a hard worker.
