In Latest Gaffe, US President Joe Biden Calls Volodymyr Zelenskyy 'Putin'. Internet Flooded With Memes

It was another day, another faux pas for US President Joe Biden, who is running for his second term as the President.

After a disastrous debate against his opponent Donald Trump, the President once again caused embarrassment for his supporters after he referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US Vice President Kamala Harris by the wrong names.

On Thursday night, Joe Biden attended the NATO summit in Washington. When he was on stage, Joe Biden made the disastrous mistake of addressing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “President Putin”, prompting loud gasps in the audience. After giving a speech Joe Biden invited Volodymyr Zelenskyy on stage and said, “And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination, ladies and gentlemen, President Putin.” On realising his mistake, he corrected himself and said, “Going to beat President Putin, President Zelenskyy. I am so focused on beating Putin.”

Ironically, just a few hours later at a press conference, he called Kamala Harris “Trump”. Joe Biden was asked if he was concerned about Kamala Harris’ ability to beat Trump if she were running as the President. In response, he said, “I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president did I think she was not qualified to be president.”

Now these two back-to-back mistakes have prompted a wave of memes on social media. An X user equated Joe Biden’s mistakes with school students calling their teacher “Mom”.

Another person referred to similarities between singers Charli XCX and Lorde and wrote, “‘Ladies and gentlemen, Lorde’ Biden said as he introduced Charli XCX. Realising his mistake, he clarified: ‘They got the same hair.’”

Someone shared a video of a car falling down a sinkhole and wrote, “Live look at Biden’s presidential campaign”

Joe Biden’s critics have often attacked his presidency on the grounds that he is cognitively and physically unfit. The critics also argue that he is already 81 years old, and would be too old to serve the next five years as the president if elected. This election, Joe Biden is up against Republican candidate Donald Trump, who is also 78 years old but has so far evaded comments about his age.
