Is This Gaganyaan Rocket? Edited Video of Indian Man, Woman Flying in the Sky 'Sparks' Laughter
Viral video shows a man and a woman riding atop a rocket, internet hilariously calls it, 'Gaganyaan prototype'.

Six years have passed since the momentous decision to send Indians into space was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Just recently, he proudly introduced to the nation the four selected astronaut-designates who have been undergoing rigorous training for the Gaganyaan mission in anonymity over the past four years.

These four candidates—Group Captains Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Angad Pratap, Ajit Krishnan, and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla, all esteemed officers of the Indian Air Force—are poised to follow in the historic footsteps of Rakesh Sharma, who became the first and only Indian to venture into space way back in 1984 aboard a Russian spacecraft. However, it seems they’re not the only ones with lofty ambitions!

Yes, you heard it correctly! A video has surfaced on the internet showcasing a man and a woman soaring high in the sky atop a rocket, albeit in a comical and entertaining manner. The clip portrays a Desi couple seated atop an oversized rocket, akin to ones used in festive fireworks displays, until a young boy ignites it, causing it to ascend into the heavens. The scene then transitions to the couple seated atop the spent rocket as it gracefully glides through the sky. And wait, till you catch sight of their clothes! No uniform, just Indian attire.

Naturally, this hilariously-edited video has sparked waves of laughter across the internet.

“Gaganyaan mission ka prototype,” quipped one user on ‘X’. Another added, “Science ka ek behtareen ajooba.” “Will you come back now,” humorously inquired the third.

But setting aside the jokes, for the real Gaganyaan mission, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has meticulously identified 48 contingency landing sites across the globe to ensure the safe recovery and rescue of the astronauts during the return mission, as revealed by senior officials. While the ideal scenario involves the Gaganyaan module touching down in the Arabian Sea, where Indian agencies will be on standby to execute the rescue, the space agency has also designated backup sites in international waters should any deviations occur from the primary plan.

“In any mission, there is an ideal scenario and there are backup plans in case that is not achieved. For the Gaganyaan mission, if everything goes by the book, we will be able to land the module in the Indian waters,” remarked a senior ISRO official associated with the mission.

Initially, the space agency had pinpointed two potential landing spots in Indian waters—one in the Arabian Sea and the other in the Bay of Bengal. However, due to the rough waters and unpredictable conditions of the Bay of Bengal, the decision was made to finalise the landing site in the Arabian Sea.
