Is US Batter Aaron Jones A Temba Bavuma Doppelganger? Social Media Thinks So

The USA cricket team made a roaring debut in the ICC T20 World Cup on home soil. The co-hosts crushed Canada in a high-scoring clash to secure a seven-wicket win. Middle-order batter Aaron Jones scored a blazing 94, with 10 sixes and 4 boundaries, to help his team chase down the 195-run target. Jones became an overnight sensation on the back of his performance.

Apart from his power-packed batting, fans were also quite amazed by the similarity between Aaron Jones and South Africa batter Temba Bavuma. A fan shared the pics of both the cricketers on X (formerly Twitter) with a hilarious caption that read, “Temba Bavuma got dropped from the SA T20 squad, couldn’t take that insult, did a hair transplant, went to the USA with name changed as Aaron Jones & smacks a 94*(40). Haters in the mud. Well done, Temba.”

Bavuma, a former captain, is not part of the 15-member South Africa squad for the T20 World Cup.

The comment section was flooded with witty remarks. One user wrote, “Haters would say both of them are different persons.”

Another fan branded Temba Bavuma as the “Real Hustler.”

A few of them said that there is already some social media chatter on the similarity between the two players.

Not everyone was onboard the doppelganger argument and pointed out the difference in height between Aaron Jones and Temba Bavuma. “Aaron Jones is towering over Temba.. he is 5’11,” pointed out one of the comments.

Temba Bavuma was the captain of South Africa in the last ICC ODI World Cup which was hosted in India. South Africa will begin their campaign in the USA with a match against Sri Lanka on June 3.

The USA directly qualified for the T20 World Cup as the co-hosts along with the West Indies. A win in the opening game will certainly boost their confidence. The USA have been pooled in Group A. Apart from Canada, they will need to overcome powerhouse teams like India, Pakistan and Ireland in the league stage.
