Masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) have become more in demand since the pandemic. The use of face masks in community and clinical settings was meant to serve as both personal protection against illness and source control to restrict viral transmission. The usage of masks increased so extensively that individuals began breaking world records. A youngster from India set a world record by wearing 10 surgical masks in 11.56 seconds.

Josukutty Elbin of Kerala applied ten surgical masks while blindfolded in 11.56 seconds, according to Guinness World Records (GWR). This was carried out shortly after the pandemic on October 10, 2023. Josukutty was able to set this record at his school.

The video of the same was posted by GWR on its official Instagram handle amassing over 8 million views.

Josukutty is shown in the video putting on each mask rapidly while wearing a blindfold. He had to correctly wear each mask with the straps in his ears, according to regulation. Josukutty broke the world record after completing the task in a matter of seconds.

However, the internet was not very much impressed with GWR’s standards.

A user commented, “The way Guinness World Record is giving out certificates! I can eat food very fast! Where’s my certificate?”

“Hopeless record”, said another.

A user asked, “What was the point?”

Another user said, “Reason why we aren’t winning gold in Olympics.”

Meanwhile, a user noted, “You are telling me this is a Guinness record? No respect for records.”

“When you can’t beat a Guinness record, create your own”, read a comment.

If you think that was ridiculous, keep in mind we have records for the fastest burrito eater, the most objects in a beard, the furthest distance travelled across LEGOs, the most watermelons chopped on the stomach in a minute, the most people brushing their teeth at the same time, and more!

We even have the global record for the most married person. The record holder for the most marriages is Linda Lou Taylor of Indiana. She has 23 marriages under her belt. The shortest marriage she ever had? 36 hours.

As per NBC Chicago, Linda has been married to a prisoner, a pastor, a musician, bartenders, homeless guys, electricians, and two homosexual men. She was beaten by one spouse. Several of them abandoned her.

What's your reaction?
