'Not Feeling Safe': Mumbai Man Films Uber Driver Watching Videos Behind the Wheel, Police Reacts
Viral post: Mumbai man shares a video of Uber driver watching videos while driving, police responds.

Driving carries a certain responsibility, and when a resident of Mumbai noticed his Uber driver neglecting this duty, he promptly recorded the incident and shared the video online, expressing his dismay at such careless driving. In the post, he called out the ride-hailing company and disclosed feeling entirely unsafe while using their services due to a particular driver who was engrossed in watching videos on his phone while navigating the roads.

The now widely circulated post on the micro-blogging platform ‘X’ by @snakeyesV1, co-founder of Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO), showcased a video illustrating the driver scrolling through videos on his phone placed on his lap while driving. The frustration was palpable in Mr. Venkat’s statement, as he wrote, “I am not feeling safe to travel in @Uber_India these days as these days the drivers are driving dangerously. This driver is watching videos on his mobile by putting his phone on his lap. @MTPHereToHelp this happened in Mumbai. What will you do to stop this? @Uber_Mumbai”

Mr. Venkat shared, “Sir, it is before the Vashi bridge towards Navi Mumbai from Mankhurd. I don’t have the vehicle number. Asked @Uber_India to provide me with the same.”

Other users chimed in with their own similar experiences, highlighting the frequent occurrence of such driver negligence. One user shared, “My wife with a 6 month baby had to step down midway because of the misbehaviour of the driver. Uber did nothing. Instead of compensating for the trouble and harassment, they’re still asking her to pay for the cab fare. Which I’ll never pay, since I’m never using über again!” Another user commented, “I had to object and tell my driver to not watch the match on his mobile. His excuse was that it’s so much traffic so what difference?!”

Since being shared, the post has amassed over 45K views on the site.
