Students are required to share a healthy and respectable relationship with their professors. While being attentive and decent in the classroom are the basics, there is also no harm in a bit of fun. Something similar was noticed among the students at a Hyderabad engineering college. A viral video of the students at the Maturi Venkata Subba Rao (MVSR) Engineering College trying to prank their professor has left the internet delighted. While the group of students made their best efforts to pull off the prank, little did they know that their elderly professor was also internet savvy and well aware of the trending prank.
Taking inspiration from the students at Bengaluru’s Christ University, the MVSR students staged a fake argument during the class, debating over the grammatical issue of two sentences: “You is sleep” and “You can sleep.”
According to their plan, the professor would naturally choose the second option, at which point the entire classroom would put their heads down for a nap. Instead of falling for the trick, the professor burst into laughter and said, “Hehe, mujhe malum hai (I know about it),” leaving the students in splits. He even shared that he spends a lot of time on Instagram and added, “I watch those videos more than you do. I am old, but I like all those reels.”
Though a failed prank, the professor’s heartwarming reaction has gone viral on Instagram. A user commented, “Professor is a professional reel consumer,” while another called him a “Pookie professor.”
“The professor passed the vibe check,” a comment read. Another user wrote, “Well he is a Pro in all true sense.”
The original prank was carried out by the students of Christ University, where they deliberately argued in the classroom, drawing the professor’s attention. As he asked about the conflict, one of the students said, “Sir, you tell me. Which is correct grammar: You is sleep or You can sleep.”
Unaware of their trick, he said, “You can sleep,” instantly prompting the students to put their heads down on the desks. After realising the prank, he gave out a warm smile and even waved to the camera. The video racked in a lot of views and love online, with many appreciating the professor’s gentle way of handling the situation.
