Artificial Intelligence has already revolutionised the world, with its uses ranging from face recognition in iPhones and smart cars to digital assistants. While many cynics continue to mull over the chances of misuse of AI, renowned Korean company Samsung has come up with an AI-powered refrigerator.
The artificial intelligence that powers the fridge will inform people about when the groceries kept in the fridge are about to expire and who has secretly drunk your beer or eaten leftover food. It can also receive incoming calls on your phone. Its state-of-the-art technology tells you the exact time a certain item has been removed from the fridge and can play music of your choice.
It can also order groceries from the supermarket when it realises a certain item is low on storage. It also has a camera showing who is ringing your doorbell. But the feature that takes the cake is the capability of the AI to suggest recipes to the owner, by mixing the food items kept inside the fridge.
Tanya Weller, director of Samsung’s digital appliance department in Britain, said that the company launched the first fridge about 50 years ago. Since then it has always pushed its standards of innovation forward. She added that this AI-powered fridge ushers in a new era of technology. With the help of AI, people can prevent the wastage of money, electricity and food. In this way, the burden on every house will also be reduced.
