Techie Puts 'Urgent Hiring' Call For 'Junior Wife' On LinkedIn, Roasted For 'Sexist Humour'
The software engineer clarified that it was “just a funny post” made to “make people laugh.”

Most people use LinkedIn to look for jobs and to put out job openings. However, recently, a software engineer, Jitendra Singh, put out an “urgent hiring" call for the position of a “junior wife". The now-viral post mentions that this “entry-level" role requires “zero experience". The selection of the right candidate will be made after three rounds of interviews, with the final round being a “face-to-face" interaction. The salary is listed as “confidential" even as this job’s time duration is “rest of the life".

The list of requirements for the role is: “Minimum of 2 years of experience in cooking", “ability to wake up at night and make spicy biryani", “Good communication skills", “Respectable and decent", “Obedient and loving", and “Goal-oriented (I will do all the work but she should understand what I am doing)."

Singh concluded this post by mentioning that it is “just a funny post" made to “make people laugh." Even as this post got over 2,000 reactions and hundreds of comments, many people were bemused by it. The critics argued that the post was laden with sexist humour.

A LinkedIn user simply described it as “Well this is not funny at all." Another person wrote, “Great way to tell your professional network you’ve never been laid." A LinkedIn user suggested that such posts might harm Singh’s professional growth and remarked, “Get real. Apart from being so outdated (100 years?), a post like this will harm your job searches. Attitudes like this in your workplace, may get you sacked or the subject of a POSH complaint. Everyone who wonders why I don’t see it as just funny, the reason is simple: it isn’t."

Another person said, “Quora has a feature where you downvote a certain kind of post and it stops/reduces those kinds of posts on your feed. LinkedIn needs it."

A LinkedIn user described the post as “discriminatory" and argued, “I don’t understand what you were going for here though. I’m sorry, but this job posting is highly inappropriate and disrespectful. Seeking a “Junior Wife" is both offensive and discriminatory.

“And I don’t think you would even get a woman with an attitude like this. This kind of language perpetuates harmful stereotypes and undermines gender equality. I strongly urge you to reconsider your approach and revise your crap posting to reflect inclusive and respectful language. And also grow up?"

A few people also found humour in Singh’s post. “It was wonderful to come across such a post..M sure a quite few smiled…I did at least ty," read a comment.
