There have been many cases where a mother-in-law’s and daughter-in-law’s relationship was strained due to suspicion, lack of boundaries and insecurities. One Reddit user found herself in a soup after her mother-in-law suspected that she (Reddit user) was cheating on her husband and the child she gave birth to, was not her husband’s. The mother-in-law demanded a DNA test, and the results ended up revealing a long-buried secret.
When the daughter-in-law gave birth to her daughter, everyone in the family was surprised to see that the newborn’s eyes were green. This led to the mother-in-law quickly jumping to the conclusion that the daughter-in-law must have cheated and had an affair with someone else. She questioned how the newborn had green eyes despite none of the immediate family members having so.
As the suspicion deepened, so did the taunts. To prove that the daughter-in-law must have had an affair, the mother-in-law demanded a DNA test, to which the former agreed as well. But who knew that the DNA test would end up revealing the secret of the mother-in-law instead?
As per the 29-year-old daughter-in-law’s Reddit thread, she gave birth to her daughter two months ago. And her husband had complete faith in her and he knew that she would never cheat on him. However, she still had to undergo the DNA tests because the mother-in-law pointed out how strange it was that neither the newborn’s parents nor the grandparents on both sides had green eyes. The taunts increased, but the husband’s faith in her was unshakeable.
So, for the sake of putting these taunts to rest, she did the DNA test and the results were surprising. The newborn turned out to be the couple’s, however, it was found that her father-in-law was not the biological father of her husband.
The Reddit user further added that it never occurred to anybody that the mother-in-law may have cheated or had an affair with someone. So, after seeing the results, the Reddit user’s husband wanted to have a word with his wife, but she asked him to wait. She believes that her MIL is a liar and that her father-in-law should know the truth.
However, she does not want further arguments in the house anymore. Meanwhile, she said that her husband wanted to find the biological father, but it would be a disaster. After she posted this on Reddit, the internet was divided. While one wrote that the mother-in-law was showing off so much, now her secret was exposed. Another wrote that the daughter-in-law should remain silent as it would make peace in the family.
