A woman recently opened up about her bitter relationship with her father via a social media post. She dropped a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat on Reddit where her father could be seen questioning her for eating non-vegetarian food. It all started after the woman sent a picture of chicken tandoori. However, the actual matter seemed not to be about her food choice. In the caption of her post, the user further revealed that her father had stayed mostly away from home during her childhood days as he was in the Indian Army. It might have been the reason for the distance between him and the other family members.
The woman claimed that her father had an anger issue and allegedly used to abuse her mother. “He always screams at us, always finds fault in us including mum. He was never around while growing up (travelled for work – he was in the Army) and he abused my mum too.”
My relationship with my father is fucked up. Haven’t spoken to him on call for a long time. Thought of starting a conversation, and this is what he said.byu/CommissionRecent5863 inindiasocial
Despite these complications, the woman never wanted to distance herself from her father. As per the viral post, the daughter tried her best to have a healthy conversation but failed to continue it for long. She also alleged that the man had always been indifferent about his fatherly responsibilities.
“Sometimes I wish we had a good relationship with my father and then things would have been different. The conversation with him turns into a fight. Never wishes me on my birthday. Never bought gifts. Just bare minimum of what fathers too,” the woman wrote on Reddit.
About the recent WhatsApp chat, she said, “I haven’t spoken to him on call for a long time. Thought of starting a conversation, and this is what he said.”
The woman’s action, however, didn’t go down well with many Redditors, who found it “dumb and stupid” to send the picture of chicken to her father, who might be a vegetarian. One of them sarcastically commented, “Come on! You wanted this reaction from him.”
Another user noted, “I don’t agree with your dad’s reaction but if you knew that he isn’t a fan of non-veg then why would you break the ice with that? Especially when you were trying to amend things. If you do intend to bridge the gap with your father then, I’d encourage you not to stop trying.”
An individual slammed the woman, saying, “Why would you send him something that you are prohibited to do in your family?? Seem’s dumb!!.” The Reddit post has already garnered over 500 upvotes while accumulating hundreds of comments.
