Whether you’re enjoying a meal at a restaurant, on a train, or opting for online delivery, food safety remains a pressing concern in India. There are numerous instances of contaminated or spoiled food, from train passengers complaining about substandard meals to social media posts showcasing contaminated items. In a recent incident, a customer who ordered a burger and fries from Burger King via Zomato was shocked to discover mould on the burger. The customer expressed his disappointment on social media, tagging Burger King and Zomato in his post to bring attention to the issue and seek a resolution.

“Ordered from Burger King via Zomato. After finishing the fries, opened the burger (Veg Whooper), and today I came to know that they have launched a new flavour. Where mould is coming free with the burger bread,” reads the caption to the video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by journalist Yaman Dev Sharma.
The picture shared by Sharma shows mould on one of the sides of the half-eaten burger.

After the post gained significant traction online, Zomato shared a response to the post. The company wrote, “This is very shocking. We are sorry you had to go through this. We will investigate it. In the meantime, a member of our team will definitely call you. For this, please DM us your registered contact number.”

Burger King, too, responded to the post. They wrote, “Hi Yaman, we never intend to provide such an experience. Can you please DM us your Contact Number, Store Location, Order ID and Email ID so that we can get in touch with you. Rest assured we will investigate this thoroughly.”
