An Indian student in the DY Patil Medical college in Mauritius tried to commit suicide after the institute was de-recognised by the Medical Council of Mauritius.
In her suicide note, the student has said that she holds the college administration responsible for her act.
Her parent said, "The future of students is uncertain. I appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to help them. Students should be transferred to other DY Patil Colleges."
The medical council's move has left many students in limbo and new admissions have also been cancelled.
Another student at DY Patil College said, "We are not getting any answers from the college. She attempted suicide because she was depressed. We appeal to DY Patil college authority and Indian government to help us."
The External Affairs Ministry said the Indian High Commission in Mauritius is fully aware of the situation and is looking into it.
