The Islamic State terrorist group recently became witness to a scene of brutality and humiliation, of the kinds the group itself is often associated with.
The incident occurred in a strategically important town of Libya when a commander of the Islamic State was subjected to humiliation before being hanged to death.
In a scene similar to the screenplay of Game of Thrones recent season finale episode, the Islamic State commander, reportedly an Iraqi named Abu-Ali al-Anbari, was first forced to walk naked through the streets of the town of Derna, and then executed.
The Daily Beast reported the incident, saying the message of the perpetrators was evident: Side with ISIS, and this is your fate. The report added that while the Islamic State has found strongholds in Syria and Iraq, it has failed to do so in strife-torn Libya.
Those who executed the Islamic State commander were reportedly members of Mujahideen Shura Council, an al Qaeda-linked militants' coalition, which has been fighting against ISIS to capture the port town of Derna.
