Washington: Donald Trump's administration has appealed a federal judge's order that blocked the US president's ban on travellers from seven Muslim-majority nations.

The Justice Department appeal on Saturday comes one day after a US district judge filed a nationwide order halting the ban's implementation. Since then, the Department of Homeland Security has reverted to standard, previous procedure in admitting people from the affected countries.

The Department of Justice declined to comment on the appeal "beyond the filing at this time," in an email to AFP.Also Read: Visa Holders Hurry to Board Flights to US Amid Reprieve

The high profile setback provoked Trump to fire off an attack on the judge, almost unprecedented for sitting president.

The department early said up to 60,000 people had their visas revoked as a result of Trump's order, although a Justice Department attorney put the number at closer to 100,000.Also Read: US Reverses Revocation of Visas After Judge Stayed Trump Travel Ban
