US Family Reunites With Cat After Feline's Amazon Adventure Takes Her To California
Amazon worker finds lost cat in returned package, reunites feline with owner. Heartwarming story of pet rescue unfolds

Carrie Clark, a mother of two from the US state of Utah was devastated when her beloved cat, Galena, went missing. Despite a week-long search effort in her neighbourhood in Salt Lake City, there was no sign of Galena.

Feeling defeated, Clark was shocked when she received a call from a veterinarian in California, informing her that they had found her lost pet six days after she was lost. Without food or water, Galena reportedly hitched a ride in an Amazon return package to a city hundreds of miles apart. The feline stowaway was found by an Amazon warehouse worker, Brandy Hunter, who promptly took her to a vet, where the cat was identified using the microchip technology.

‘SURVIVAL STORY of Galena’

She was mailed to California

For Clark, the news was both astonishing and relieving. With the help of Hunter’s kindness and quick thinking, Galena’s unexpected journey had a happy ending. Clark and her husband promptly flew to California to retrieve their beloved pet. She shared that Galena’s survival was owed in part to a split seam in the package and the normal blood work results at the vet, which indicated that she had come through the ordeal unscathed.

“SURVIVAL STORY Our cat Galena had been missing since Apr 10. We found out on Apr 17 that she jumped/hid in one of our Amazon packages without us knowing. Brace yourself… She was mailed to California and trapped in a box and trailer for six days Brandy, an Amazon worker, rescued her and took her to a vet where they scanned her for a microchip. Right when they scanned her microchip I was immediately notified via text. The CA vet then called me and told us what happened,” Carrie Clark said in a post on Facebook.

‘I jumped on a plane’

“At first I thought it was a prank! She confirmed all our info and explained the whole story. My husband and I jumped on a plane and headed straight to CA to get her! We then travelled back to Utah together in a rental car. We made it home yesterday after traveling 1600 miles in 24 hrs to get our kitty back,” the cat owner added.  Despite the unusual circumstances that led to Galena’s adventure, Clark expressed immense gratitude for the happy outcome. Speaking to a local TV station, the cat owner said, “Galena loves boxes, it’s just part of her personality.”
