Joe Biden’s response on if he would use presidential pardon for son Hunter Biden came during an interview with a US-broadcaster in France.

US President Joe Biden said he would not pardon his son Hunter who is currently facing an ongoing felony gun trial. Speaking to David Muir of US news broadcaster ABC News, Biden said he would accept the outcome of his son’s trial in Wilmington, Delaware.

He also said he would rule out a pardon for Hunter, who is his only surviving son. He answered both questions by Muir by simply saying: “Yes”.

Hunter Biden, the only surviving son of the president, is currently on trial in Delaware. He faces three felony charges linked to his attempt to acquire a firearm in 2018 while he was allegedly addicted to drugs. This trial is historic because no son of a sitting president has ever faced a criminal trial before. Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty last October after being indicted by special counsel David Weiss.

He also addressed opponent Donald Trump’s historic trial. Trump became the first former president to be convicted on felony charges, facing 34 counts of falsifying business records. He has baselessly claimed that his guilty verdict is a politically motivated witch hunt.

Biden accused Trump of attempting to undermine the rule of law. “He’s trying to undermine it. He got a fair trial. The jury spoke,” Biden told the Muir.

Jurors at Hunter Biden’s trial for allegedly buying a handgun while using crack cocaine heard testimony Wednesday from his ex-wife who recalled finding a crack pipe in their family home.

On Tuesday the court heard that Hunter Biden was a heavy drug user and allegedly lied about this on the paperwork when purchasing the firearm. Hunter Biden’s ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, described discovering the implement for smoking the drug in the side porch of their home in 2015 and later worrying their daughter might stumble upon it.

Hunter Biden is also charged with illegal possession of the firearm, which he had for just 11 days in October 2018, in addition to lying about his drug status when purchasing it.

The court also heard from Zoe Kestan with whom Hunter Biden had a relationship in 2017 and 2018, recalling that he was smoking crack “every 20 minutes or so.”

Prosecutors showed the jury images of her with Hunter Biden who was seen holding a glass pipe in his hand.

First Lady Jill Biden was again in court Wednesday, as she has been for every day of the trial, while President Joe Biden has issued a statement saying he is “proud” of his son.
