New Delhi: French President Emmanuel Macron left quite an imprint on his US counterpart Donald Trump at the G7 summit in Canada on Friday night.
Macron squeezed Trump’s hand so tightly that he left what looked like a thumb imprint on his American counterpart’s hand.
Post their meeting, they both said the rights things, claiming that progress was possible on the contentious issue of US trade tariffs - but the handshake suggested a different story.
After the handshake, Trump looked a bit pained while Macron seemed quite satisfied with himself.
Pictures show how the French president kept holding on to Trump’s hand even though the US leader had already let go.

During their meeting, Mr Macron flashed an occasional smile and winked once, describing their talks as “very direct and open”.
This was not the first time that the two leaders shook each other’s hands so firmly that there was evidence of the grips on their hands afterward. In May of last year, their knuckles turned white after an intense handshake. Later, Macron told French media his handshake style was “not innocent,” calling it a “moment of truth.”
