In a move to offer seamless movement to the public in Bangalore, the authorities have been trying to make a foot-over-bridge (FoB) between Krishnarajapuram railway station and K.R. Pura Metro station, which now has been facing a huge delay.
It was slated to be completed by the end of January 2024. However, the completion date for the project now has been pushed further, indicating a delay of three months.
Pending Foot-Over Bridge
As per the details shared by The Hindu, the members of the Mahadevapura Task Force-Mobility, have informed that the casting of the second-level beam for the bridge at K.R. Pura metro station is done. Still, the completion of a project is witnessing a huge delay, forcing thousands of pedestrians to put their lives at risk while crossing the road due to the absence of FoB.
Here’s What Official Says
It has been reported that around 30,000 people cross the road daily, which connects the railway station and the K.R. Pura metro station. The Hindu also quoted a senior police official, who said, ” The Krishnarajapuram railway station is a significant hub, often serving passengers from long-distance trains. On arrival, between 500 to 1,500 passengers alight at the spot. To ensure their safety, traffic police, and home guards facilitate their crossing by halting traffic intermittently.”
In addition, he said, “The junction is manned by four to five constables, three home guards, an ASI, and a police officer of SI rank.”
Reaction by BMRCL Official
Commenting about the progress, an official from BMRCL said, “Construction of the foot over bridge at K.R. Pura metro station is currently underway, aimed to facilitate pedestrians. The project was delayed earlier due to land issues, which now have been resolved, and pushed the project to proceed further smoothly.”
