Chandigarh Railway Station: Platform 1 Blocked Until August 9 For Redevelopment
To accommodate extra passengers, a special 02449 Madgaon-Chandigarh train (one way) will operate on July 12.

Platform number 1 at Chandigarh railway station will be closed from July 12 to August 9 due to ongoing redevelopment work.

The Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA), after missing two earlier deadlines, including one on May 31, now aims to finish the construction in three more months.

During this period, trains will either be cancelled or diverted. According to Hindustan Times, passengers using platform number 2/3 are advised to use the foot over bridge at platform 1. Those on platform number 4/5 should take the pathway near the parcel office (Kalka end) or use the second entrance on the Panchkula side to avoid congestion.

Passengers boarding or de-boarding at platform number 6, especially those of Ajmer-Chandigarh-Ajmer Vande Bharat Express (20977/78) and New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express (12045), are recommended to use the second entry (Panchkula side) to ease rush.

Railway officials urge travelers to arrive early to avoid last-minute hassles.

Cancelled trains until August 9 include:

  • Train No. 15011-15012 (Lucknow-Chandigarh)
  • Train No. 14630-14629 (Firozpur Cantt-Chandigarh)
  • Train No. 12527-12528 (Ramnagar-Chandigarh)
  • Train No. 12242-12241 (Amritsar-Chandigarh)

Train No. 15531-15532 (Saharsa-Amritsar) and Train No. 12925-12926 (Mumbai Central-Amritsar) have been diverted via Ambala Cantt, skipping Chandigarh.

To accommodate extra passengers, a special 02449 Madgaon-Chandigarh train (one way) will operate on July 12.
