Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) announced on Tuesday that the monthly parking pass provision is now exclusively available to Metro commuters who have taken a minimum of 15 rides in the last 30 days.
This privilege is extended at six stations, according to a statement from CMRL.
The six stations where this provision applies are Wimco Nagar Depot Metro, Sri Thiyagaraya College Metro, Nehru Park Metro, Koyambedu Metro, Ashok Nagar Metro, and Alandur Metro, as reported by OneIndia.
To ensure priority parking for Metro commuters, CMRL has updated parking preferences based on space availability and occupancy at stations:
- Monthly pass provision is extended only to metro commuters (with a minimum of 15 rides in the last 30 days) at the parking lots of the six mentioned stations.
- Monthly pass provision is suspended at four stations due to insufficient parking space: New Washermenpet Metro, Nandanam Metro, Egmore Metro, and Shenoy Nagar Metro.
- Hourly parking tariffs for non-commuters have been raised at 18 stations to manage increased demand. These stations include ThiruvotriyurMetro, Thiruvotiyur Theradi Metro, Kaladipet Metro, High Court Metro, Washermenpet Metro, Government Estate Metro, LIC Metro, Guindy Metro, Nanganallur Road Metro, Meenambakkam Metro, Thirumangalam Metro, Airport Metro, Mannadi Metro, New Washermenpet Metro, Nandanam Metro, Egmore Metro, Ashok Nagar Metro, and Alandur Metro.
- Monthly pass tariffs for non-commuters (those who haven’t used the metro or have less than 15 rides in the last 30 days) have increased at Arumbakkam Metro & St. Thomas Mount Metro stations.
- Parking tariffs at other stations remain unchanged.
This expansion of the monthly parking pass provision aims to provide convenience to regular Chennai Metro commuters while also managing parking resources effectively across different stations.
