Goa Governor and passengers celebrate as Chennai-Salem flight service makes a triumphant return after a 2.5-year hiatus due to COVID-19 and low demand.

The Chennai-Salem daily flight service has finally resumed services, much to the joy of the region’s commuters.

Among the passengers who boarded the flight, Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai added a touch of charm and warmth to the journey.

After a pause of two and a half years, the flight route, initially halted due to low demand and the persistent challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, made a jubilant return, all thanks to Udan 5.0.

The flight departed from Chennai at 11:20 a.m., landing smoothly in Salem by 12:30 p.m. Notably, this flight brought some notable passengers, including the Goa Governor, actor Namitha, and 54 fellow travelers, who all shared in the excitement of this revival. Following a brief stop, the flight bid farewell to Salem, taking off for Chennai at 12:50 p.m., marking a triumphant return to its daily service.

As passengers disembarked, a warm and heartfelt welcome awaited them. Collector S. Karmegam, S.R. Parthiban, MP, and revenue officials greeted the travelers with bouquets of roses, extending a gesture of hospitality and camaraderie. The enthusiastic BJP cadre, led by R.P. Gopinath, the State President of the environment protection cell, also shared in the jubilation, offering a warm reception to the esteemed Goa Governor, emphasizing the importance of this rekindled connection.

Furthermore, Mr. Gopinath expressed concern about the absence of the national flag in the vehicle provided for the Governor by the district administration. Quickly addressing this matter, Collector S. Karmegam explained that arrangements were indeed in place to display the National Emblem and the flag in the vehicles. The oversight, he shared, occurred due to momentary confusion about which vehicle Mr. Pillai would use. Fortunately, the situation was swiftly remedied, and the national flag was proudly unfurled, reaffirming our unity and national pride.

Following this remarkable restart, Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai embarked on his journey to the enchanting Madeswaran Malai in Karnataka, leaving behind a promising start for the rejuvenated Chennai-Salem flight service, which promises to serve as a heartwarming bridge of connectivity for the region’s residents.
