Mercedes-Benz India has launched the sleek and stylish CLE 300 Cabriolet at a price of Rs 1.1 crore (ex-showroom).
Although it made its global debut last July, the convertible version is now exclusively available in India.
Design
The CLE Cabriolet is built on Mercedes’ Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform, the same one used in the current C-Class and the upcoming new-generation E-Class. This makes the CLE longer than the previous C- and E-Class coupes. The car’s design draws inspiration from the outgoing E-Class coupe and cabriolet, featuring a large grille with a shark-nose effect, a long bonnet, and an automatic fabric roof that folds seamlessly into the boot. In India, the CLE comes in the AMG Line trim, adding sportier touches like enhanced bumpers.
Features
Inside, the CLE Cabriolet mirrors the C-Class layout, boasting a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait-style infotainment screen. The car has a 2+2 seating arrangement with newly designed front seats that offer headrests, heating, and four-way lumbar support as standard. Notably, the CLE is Mercedes’ first Cabriolet to feature separate head airbags for rear passengers. The soft top can be opened or closed in just 20 seconds, even at speeds of up to 60kph.
Engine Specifications
Under the hood, the CLE Cabriolet is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing 258 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100kph in 6.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 250kph.
Rivals
The CLE Cabriolet, with its two extra rear seats, competes with the BMW Z4, priced at Rs 90.90 lakh, and offers a slightly more affordable option compared to the Porsche 718 Boxster.
