Honda yesterday unveiled its premium sedan the 2018 Honda Accord in Detroit. Carrying the 40 years old legacy, the 10th-generation of Honda Accord is lower and wider with a more than-two-inch-longer wheelbase and shortened overall length which provides a stronger stance to the car. Honda has given a dramatic new face to 2018 accord with LED lighting, a long and sculpted hood, and a swept-back greenhouse moved rearward on the body – all leading into a shortened rear deck highlighted by LED taillights and dual exhausts.

The new Honda Accord comes with three new engines, including two new turbos. The base 1.5-litre turbo puts out 192 horsepower and 260 Nm peak torque and is mated to Honda CVT unit. The 2.0-litre turbo that churns out 252 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque and it's mated to new 10-speed automatic, which is the first of its kind for a front-wheel-drive car. In Sport trim, the 2.0-liter turbo comes with an option of a 6-speed manual. You can check the video below.

The hybrid version of 2018 Honda Accord comes with 2-liter Atkinson cycle engine with the two-motor hybrid system and with battery pack relocated under the floor. The car offers two driving modes - Normal and Sport, with the latter tightening the power steering and transmission calibration.

Inside, the car gets a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, heads-up display and features like traffic sign recognition. The driver's seat now has available 12-way power adjustment.

The 1.5-liter powered Accord will be available in six trims – LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring. The 2.0-liter model has four trims available, which are Sport, EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring. And the new Accord Hybrid will be available in five trims – Hybrid, EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring.

Honda introduced the current generation of Accord in India despite it attracted so much taxes which shows the importance of Indian car market to the Japenese automaker. After the implementation of goods and services in the country, imported cars attract 43% tax, now this remains a big question that will the company introduce the new accord in the Indian market?
