Greater Noida: In a strong push towards eco-friendly vehicles, carmaker Renault unveiled its Eolab concept car at the 2016 edition of India's flagship motor show - Auto Expo.
The Eolab concept is basically a large plug-in hybrid hatchback which, the carmaker claims, could run close to 100km with just 1 litre of fuel. The concept car has been built on a B-segment vehicle platform and integrates technology that helps it achieve extremely low fuel consumption.
The car combines a petrol engine with an electric motor in a compact vehicle format, which the company says offers about 60km of distance with zero-emission or electric vehicle like conditions.
Renault says that lighter weight of the vehicle means low fuel consumption, and hence, the concept car’s multi-material body combines steel, aluminium and a magnesium roof that weighs just 4.5 kg, bringing the overall weight just under 1000 kilos. The car further features adjustable ride height.
The Auto Expo 2016 begun with a blend of conventional vehicles and some impressive cars of the future. Other concept cars on display at the show include the Mercedes' FIA World Championship-winning F1 W06 hybrid car, Hyundai's Le Mans race car style Vision Gran Turismo, Ford GT supercar, Mahindra XUV Aero coupe-crossover concept and the Datsun GO-cross Concept.
