Drawing inspiration from the Maruti Fronx, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor sports a familiar silhouette but boasts updated front and rear profiles.

Toyota India has introduced the Urban Cruiser Taisor, a crossover based on Maruti Fronx, in the country.

The price starts at Rs 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes upto Rs 13.03 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s the sixth product from the Toyota-Maruti Suzuki partnership in India. Bookings are now open, and deliveries are set to kick off in May 2024.

The Taisor inherits the dimensions and silhouette of the Fronx, with updated front and rear profiles. Notable design tweaks include a revised front grille, tweaked bumpers, newly styled LED DRLs, and redesigned alloy wheels, as reported by Carwale.

Inside, the cabin boasts a fresh theme with new seat upholstery. Loaded with features, the crossover includes a large infotainment screen with wireless smartphone connectivity, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless charger, ambient lighting, steering-mounted controls, 360-degree surround camera, and head-up display.

Under the hood, the Taisor retains the powertrain options from the Maruti Fronx. It offers a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine producing 88 bhp power and 113Nm of torque and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine generating 99 bhp power and 148Nm of torque. Transmission options vary with the 1.2-litre engine, offering either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT, while the turbo petrol engine comes with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic torque converter. Additionally, select variants offer a company-fitted CNG kit option.

Compared to the Maruti Fronx, there’s a price difference of up to Rs. 25,000 in the 1.2-litre engine models, while the 1.0-litre turbo model sees only a minor difference of Rs. 1,000.

The Urban Cruiser Taisor competes with the Maruti Fronx, Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and the upcoming Mahindra XUV300.
