Infiniti has shared a photo of a shadowed, all-electric crossover which will front the company's upcoming EV platform.
Infiniti teased its first fully-electric vehicle on Friday -- exactly one month before its Detroit Auto Show debut on January 14, the same conference where the company made its global debut 30 years ago. This new shadowed, electric crossover concept will mark the company's transition towards electrification; in fact, Infiniti announced in January of this year that they would electrify their portfolio "from 2021 onward, using either e-power (serial hybrid) or pure EV powertrains."
This concept vehicle will represent "a new era" for the company and defines the trajectory of upcoming vehicle design, especially in the electrification realm. From the exterior contours of the vehicle which we can see in the teaser image, it's clear that Infiniti drew inspiration for this model from the Q Inspiration and Prototype 10, two very futuristic-styled concepts with elements that hint at the company's forthcoming electric transition.
Though Infiniti is bringing up the rear in its first release of fully-electric vehicles compared to many other car manufacturers, we're finally seeing some of the brand's promises making an appearance, albeit through concept models. A 2021 deadline is still a way ahead, but it's clear that the company has production designs up their sleeve.
