Zayed Khan Blames Mumbai for Hrithik Roshan-Sussanne Khan's Divorce? Says 'Tough City for a Marriage'

Zayed Khan seems to blame Mumbai for difficult marriages. The actor, in a recent interview, was asked about his sister Sussanne Khan’s divorce from Hrithik Roshan. The couple parted ways in 2014, after being married for 14 years, but continue to remain friends. During the chat, Zayed blamed Mumbai for have numerous distractions and added that it is tough city for many marriages.

Speaking with Subhojit Ghosh on YouTube, he was asked if the family was affected by the trolls attacking them after Hrithik and Sussanne’s split. Zayed said, “You have to have a thick skin. How your family galvanises together to give you emotional support, these things matter. Our family is like a rock. Anything happens to one of us, it happens to all of us. I have nothing to say beyond, these are things that one has to look at maturely. It could happen to anybody.”

The Main Hoon Na actor then brought up Mumbai and said, “Also, look at our city, we live in a city where there are so many distractions. We don’t live in Dalhousie. It’s a tough city to survive for a lot of marriages, let alone my own family. Needless to say, we are an unmovable force.”

Despite the divorce, Zayed noted the former couple is still family to each other and they are also coordial with each others’ new partners. “We are a very modern family. There’s a saying, blood is thicker than water. If two people don’t want to be with each other, but they have many other things in common, one must understand and support them. There is something which lies ahead of that; family, children, everybody… Responsibilities are above and beyond all of that. We are a very open-minded family, as long as there is respect for each other. We inculcate that not only into ourselves, but also our children,” he said.

“Irrespective of whatever happens, we never badmouth any side. We make them realise that certain things are the way they are, and they’re going to be like this. We can all be happy together, or we can be sad together. What would you choose? I’m very close to my brother Hrithik as well. He’s a gem of a guy, with a heart of gold. Both their partners… Saba is a wonderful lady, Arsalan is also a very good boy… What the hell, life goes on,” the actor added.

Hrithik and Sussanne’s divorce came through in 2014. The former couple co-parents their sons, Hrehaan Roshan and Hridhaan Roshan.
