Bengaluru Rickshaw Driver Helps Man Catch His Train: 'My Money and Hassles Were Saved'
Peak Bengaluru: Man reveals how an auto-rickshaw driver saved him from missing his train. Check viral post.

You know that heart-pounding race against time to catch a train, witnessing it roll away, and the sinking feeling of missing it – it’s practically a breakup in locomotive form. Yet, one Bengaluru man managed to escape this predicament, all thanks to an auto-rickshaw driver who skillfully maneuvered through traffic to ensure he caught his train. Sharing the episode on the micro-blogging site ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Adil Husain recounted the incident, labelling it his ‘Peak Bengaluru’ moment.

“I was supposed to board Prashanti express at 1:40 pm from SBC station and due to some work commitments I started by 12:50 from Marathalli. The distance was 17 kms and due to traffic i couldn’t make it on time,” he narrated alongside a video of the rickshaw speeding along a road. As he entered the railway station, he was approached by several auto-rickshaw drivers who inquired about his train. To his dismay, they revealed that the train had already departed.

“I was still seeing the train in ‘where’s my train’ app and hence decided to move to the platform,” Hussain continued. While walking towards the platform, the tracking app indicated the train’s departure. “I stopped walking, just then the auto driver caught up with me and said don’t worry.” The driver proposed helping Hussain reach the next station, Yelahanka Junction, 27 kilometers away, for a fee of Rs 2500 for him and his friend.

“By this time it was already 1:50 and the yehlanka (Yelahanka) stop was at 2:20pm. I contemplated that if i need to book a flight now it would cost thrice the fare and my 2AC ticket would also gone waste hence we decided to go for it,” Hussain added. Describing the ensuing 25-minute auto-rickshaw ride as the craziest, he highlighted how the driver skillfully navigated through traffic, taking shortcuts and even exchanging waves with friends also assisting passengers in similar situations.

“We reached the station comfortably by 2:15 and had 5 more minutes while the train reached. Thanks to this guy we saved a lot of money,” Hussain gloated.

But, the story doesn’t end there. He spilled the beans on how these auto-rickshaw aces turn someone’s train disaster into a goldmine, saying, “This guy waits for people like me who tend to get late for the train & challenges to reach before the train and in next 20-25 min he earns 2500. If he even does it once every day, he would end up comfortably making 75000 a month. Thanks to him my money and hassles are saved.”
