Animal on OTT: Ranbir Kapoor Film To Not Feature DELETED Scenes? Here's What We Know
Animal is set to release on OTT this Friday. While Sandeep Vanga Reddy had plans of releasing an extended cut, it seems like that won't be the case.

Animal is all set to stream on Netflix starting this Friday, January 26. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol. While the film made headlines for its controversial dialogues and scenes, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had also caught everyone’s attention by revealing that he was planning to release an extended version of the film for OTT. However, it seems like there has been a change in plan.

A blockbuster at the box office, Animal was 3 hours and 23 minutes long when it was released in the cinemas. A new report has now claimed that the runtime is set to remain more-or-less the same when the film hits OTT. A source told India Today, “There are no additional scenes added in the film; the duration of the film remains the same as the theatrical release, which is 3 hours, 23 minutes, and 29 seconds.”

Earlier, Sandeep had mentioned he wanted to release the extended version on OTT. In December, Sandeep told Komal Nahta, “I’m currently editing the Netflix version, it will have a few more shots, I should’ve kept the 3-hour 30-minute version but due to pressure I had to cut 8-9 minutes. I’m using that footage for the Netflix version of Animal.”

Animal revolves around a man and his toxic relationship with his father. The film shows Vijay (played by Ranbir) as an anti-hero who would go to any lengths to protect his father, including gun down 200 people with machine gun. However, despite his efforts, he struggles to get a seal of approval from his emotionally unavailable father (played by Anil Kapoor). Animal has already crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the Indian box office.

The film opened to strong reactions. While a section of the audience enjoyed the film, a section of audience also criticised Animal for ‘promoting toxic masculinity.’
