Ahead of the film’s release, the actor shared in a promotional interview with Farhan Akhtar that he was initially scared to put out the film’s script. While sharing that the story stemmed from his liking for Dil Chahta Hai, Kemmu shared, “As an artist, I am somebody who was an actor, loved writing, and ended up being a director. Farhan has been that person way before me with no fear of being judged, and that is what I love the most.”
Kunal then added that he didn’t want them to feel like he was an actor who wasn’t getting work and hence moved in that direction. “Within this industry, you are very scared; you walk on eggshells. I was scared to put out the script for Madgaon Express because I didn’t want them to feel like I was an actor who was not getting the work he wanted to do, so now I want to branch out and do this,” he shared.
Directed by Kunal Kemmu, Madgaon Express revolves around the story of three friends who go on a vacation to Goa, only to find their epic vacation plan turns into a nightmare. Upendra Limaye and Chhaya Kadam are also said to be part of the comedy-drama.
