AI Influencer Takes Over Social Media, Makes Rs 9 Lakh A Month
Large companies are now using these AI avatars to advertise their products on social media.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been featured in countless science fiction films in Hollywood, often portrayed as a force that becomes self aware and revolts against humans. We are not yet in an era where AI would be ready to take over the world; but one area they are certainly taking over is the world of social media influencing. Yes, AI generated models have now gatecrashed into the social media scene and are also making huge amounts of money, posing challenges for their human counterparts.

Large companies are now using these AI avatars to advertise their products on social media. Aitana Lopez is one such virtual influencer, who is currently receiving a lot of attention. Aitana Lopez, an AI avatar, makes about Rs 83,000 from a single post. Over 200,000 people follow the pink-haired Lopez on social media. Lopez’s following is growing at a quick pace. Lopez was also mentioned by Paytm Founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he said that the influence of AI is currently being overestimated.

Notably, Paytm, the firm founded by Vijay Shekhar, has let go of over a thousand workers from its engineering, sales, and operations departments and is getting ready to use artificial intelligence instead.

Deanna Nunez, a co-founder of the advertising agency Clueless, is credited for creating Aitana Lopez, according to a piece in The Financial Times. Nunez claims that she was fed up by the influencers’ steadily rising demands for increased remuneration. He considered using AI to build a virtual influencer, and as a result, Aitana Lopez, the AI avatar, was born. The pink-haired Lopez currently makes Rs 9 lakh a month. It has almost two lakh social media followers. Businesses are also happy to pay Lopez $1,000 for each post in exchange for her endorsing their products.

AI is steadily breaking into the endorsement market with many famous personalities choosing AI over human endorsers. American media personality and socialite Kim Kardashian is promoting her beauty brand KKW through AI avatar Noonuri, while companies like Louis Vuitton Ayayi, Burberry, Prada and Givenchy are promoting it through virtual influencer Lil Miquela.
