Cyber experts to help nail Ramalinga Raju's e-mail trail.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is looking for cyber experts to nail Satyam Computer Services Ltd founder and its former chairman B Ramalinga Raju's e-mail trail.

Sources have told CNN-IBN that Raju has deleted e-mails written or received by him during the last one month.

The CID is interrogating Raju along with his brother and Satyam's former managing director Rama Raju and former chief financial officer Vadlamani Srinivas after getting their custody for four days from Sunday.

They will try to find out the details of the missing Rs 7,000 crore, the 250 benami accounts and the alleged thousands of accounts in the brothers' names.

The trio were interrogated on Sunday by CID officials.

A Hyderabad court has directed the CID not to use third degree methods and has ensured that Raju's lawyer, Bharat Kumar, should be present at all interrogation sessions.

In the 98 hours that Raju and his two associates will be in the police custody, here is what the CID will be probing:

  • The CID has prepared a list of questions with three main agendas.
  • The CID will be probing where more than Rs 7,000 crore reported in the Satyam balance sheets has gone. They will try to find out how and where were the funds transferred and what was the modus operandi.
  • The CID will also question him on the purpose behind Raju owning 250 benami companies and the startling coincidence of 37 of them named after Maytas, out of which 17 were started in February 2007 alone.
  • And finally the CID will try to get the details of the bank accounts the three accused have, both in India and abroad. Sources say the number could run into thousands.

While the accused are taking steps to file a revision petition in court, other investigative agencies, too, have jumped in the fray.

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Serious Fraud Investigation office may also question Raju and his accomplices.

Meanwhile, the state Finance Ministry has said it won't cancel the Hyderabad Metro project contract given to Maytas in a hurry.

What's your reaction?
