Jaitley stresses on need for PPP to revive infrastructure
The Finance Minister said that new and renewable energy deserves high priority and ultra modern power projects should be taken up.

New Delhi: With an objective to lower down inflation, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley listed out various plans for the infrastructure sector for the fiscal year 2014-15. Jaitley stressed on an urgent need to revive the infrastructure.

Jaitley stressed on the need for Public Private Partnership (PPP) to develop world class convention facility. The Finance Minister said that new and renewable energy deserves high priority and ultra modern power projects should be taken up. He allotted 11,000 crore for development of ports in the Budget.

The FM also allotted Rs 37,800 crore for NHAI and State Highways and Rs 3,000 crore for roads in North East. He propsed the ultra modern solar power project to be initiated. He has also set aside Rs 4200 crore for Jal Marg Vikas project on river Ganga connecting Allahabad to Haldia

Rs 100 crore has been allotted for thermal power technology. He also propsed the development of new airports through PPP mode. adding that there is need to develop more sophisticated models with quick redressal mechanism in PPP contracts. 16 new port projects have been proposed in the Budget. Kakinada Port to be marked for hardware manufacturing.

The FM announced Rs 200 crore for 6 more textile clusters in Rae Bareily, Lucknow,Surat, Bhagalpur.
