New Delhi: New Delhi: The markets continued to consolidate at the higher levels and ended the day on a flat note with selective buying seen in index pivotals.
The Sensex closed at 13,972.03 up 23.03 points. The Nifty was down 0.60 points or 0.01 per cent at 4015.35. The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 6,767.45 up 28 points.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 5,779.39 up two points.
The BSE Bankex was up 0.8 per cent at 7,253.80.
Centurion BoP, Kotak Mahindra, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Karnataka Bank, SBI moved upwards.
The BSE Metal Index was up 0.6 per cent to close at 9,201.12. Hindalco, Welspun Guj, Tata Steel, NALCO ended higher.
The BSE Capital Goods Index was up 1.14 per cent at 9,474.50. ABB, Bharat Elec, Alstom Projects, Siemens, Greaves Cotton, BHEL closed higher.
The BSE Auto Index closed at 5,479.85 up 0.4 per cent. Hind Motors, Ashok Leyland, Sundram, Cummins, Tata Motors moved higher.
The BSE Oil and Gas Index gained 0.8 per cent to close at 6,233.37. MRPL, Reliance, Petronet LNG, IOC ended in green.
The BSE FMCG Index lost 0.2 per cent at 2,050.12, BSE Health Care Index was down 0.4 per cent at 3,744.92 and BSE IT Index lost 0.7 per cent at 5,161.13.
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 7,466.61 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 22339.52 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 3798.4 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 33604.53 crore.
Opening Trade
The benchmark Sensex rose over 38 points in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday on sustained buying by funds and retail investors.
The 30-share index, Sensex gained 38.71 points at 13987.71 in the first five minutes of trading.
The major support came in from heavy-weights like Reliance Industries, Maruti Udyog, Larsen and Toubro, Tata steel and HDFC Bank.
Similarly, the wide based National Stock Exchange Nifty rose by 1.85 points at 4027.70.
