The rupee opened higher at 66.80 a dollar from last closing level of 67.02 per dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market.

Sustained foreign fund inflows and weakness in the dollar against some other currencies overseas also supported the rupee: Forex dealers.

Firm equity market failed to restrict the rupee's fall against the dollar, a forex dealer said.
