Narendra Modi continues to enjoy the confidence on the business community at the second anniversary of his government. His government took charge on May 26, 2014 after Modi powered the BJP-led NDA to a massive victory in the Lok Sabha elections.
According to a poll conducted by CNBC-TV18-BMR Advisors, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has been rated the best performing minister in Modi's cabinet followed by Power Minister Piyush Goyal, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
But the big disappointments have been the failure to get the GST Bill passed in Parliament, no major PSU divestment, slowdown in disposing litigation & dispute resolution, lack of labour law reforms and railways privatisation.
In the 'Big CEO Poll', 67% CEOs are happy with the government's efforts to improve the business environment. The CEOs said that single-window clearance is the most important step in the ease of doing business.
