Yes, he is none other than Mammootty or as called by fans, Mammookka. Mammootty is dressed in a ferryman’s attire in this film titled Kaalachakram. N Narayanan directed this movie. This film starred an ensemble cast of actors like Prem Nazir, Jayabharathi, Adoor Bhasi and Bahadur. Mammootty got to speak only a couple of dialogues in Kaalachakram.
Mammootty had to witness his share of ups and downs before he established his position in the Malayalam cinema. He debuted in the Malayalam cinema with the film Anubhavangal Palichakal directed by KS Sethumadhavan. In an interview with a media channel, Mammootty revealed how he couldn’t withstand the reflection from the strong reflectors used by the crew. The crew had to use reflectors to pump in more light as Anubhavangal Palichakal was a black-and-white film. Due to the strong reflection, Mammootty struggled to keep his eyes fully open in the scene. KS Sethumadhavan had a misunderstanding with Mammootty due to this reason and told him, “Don’t act."
Over the years, Mammootty acted in several films that have performed well at the box office. His latest film is Kaathal – The Core which garnered positive reviews from the critics. The movie starred an ensemble cast of actors like Jyotika, Anagha Akku, Alex Alister, Josey Sijo, and others. The film’s release was, however, banned in the Gulf countries Qatar and Kuwait. As per the reports, the reason behind the ban lies in the content of the film. Kaathal – The Core marks the return of Jyotika to the Malayalam cinema after 12 years. Mammootty Kampany and Wayfarer Films have produced this movie.
