Anjaneyar temple is located in the central part of Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal city. It is also known as Namakkal Anjaneyar Swamy temple. It is situated opposite the Narasimhaswamy and Namakrit Thayar temple. On Wednesday, the Maha Kumbabhishekam (consecration ceremony) was conducted at Namakkal Anjaneyar Swamy temple, in which a significant number of devotees from various parts of the state actively participated. Interestingly, it is after 14 years that Kumbabhishekam is being conducted here to worship the god. The ceremony was conducted by devotees last in 2009. That is why it holds great importance this year, attracting thousands of devotees. It is pertinent to note that a total of around Rs 64 lakh have been spent to conduct the special Kumbabhishekam ceremony at the temple.
It is worth noting that the 18-foot idol of Lord Hanuman in the temple is made up of a single stone. It has existed since the seventh century. On the occasion, special pujas were performed and the temple was decorated using bananas, sugarcanes, pods, and fruits. The flowers which were used to shower on the temple deity were carried from the yaga salai (a stone-pillar mandap) in a procession to the temple. The puja was performed between 9.30 am and 10 am.
