A young couple, who had married against the wishes of their families, was brutally killed just three days after their wedding in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district. The incident was reported around 6.45 p.m. on Thursday when five unidentified men entered the couple’s home and hacked them to death.
The couple, identified as Mariselvam (24) and Karthiga (20), belonged to the same community, according to a report by NDTV.
They were reportedly in a relationship for the past two years.
However, the bride’s family was against their union, and it is suspected that the bride’s family was behind the double murder.
“At around 6.45 pm, a gang hacked the couple to death in their rented home.” police said according to the NDTV report.
As per local media reports, the couple got married at a local temple on October 30.
