As the Indian team gets themselves ready for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 being hosted by the West Indies and the United States of America, the left-arm wrist spinner, Kuldeep Yadav was awarded a special cap for his inclusion in the ICC’s ODI Team of the Year 2023.
He was handed a special cap by his skipper Rohit Sharma who was also present at the time. He branded Kuldeep as ‘a great asset for the Indian team,’ and went on to hand him over the special cap.
The wrist-spinner finished the year as the highest wicket-taking bowler with 49 wickets coming in 2023. His best figures for 2023 came in the Asia Cup clash against Pakistan where he took a fifer while conceding only 25 runs.

In the World Cup 2023, Kuldeep was also a crucial element to their all-star bowling attack which led them to go undefeated through the tournament barring the big finale against Australia. He finished the tournament with 15 wickets in the 11 games he played.

Now Kuldeep has also gone on to showcase his class in Tests as well as T20s recently. He put up some fine performances in the five-match Test series against England at home where he picked up 19 wickets. In the recently concluded IPL, representing the Delhi Capitals, Kuldeep also picked up 16 wickets for the season.
His services will be relied on once again as the wicket-taking bowler will have a crucial role in India’s quest for silverware in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Indian team will begin their campaign against Ireland which takes place on June 5th at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.

Kuldeep will likely be the lead spinner for the side which also has the likes of Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja in the squad as the side looks to get its hands on the second T20 World Cup title and end their long-standing title-drought.
