'A Unique Player Has Emerged': Ex-India Opener Heaps Massive Praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s spectacular double hundred helped India post a solid total of 396 in the first innings.

Young India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal once again showcased his brilliance with the bat as he scored a maiden double hundred against England in the Visakhapatnam Test. The left-hander scored a remarkable 209 in the first innings, leaving the cricket fraternity impressed. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has lavished praise on the southpaw and has also appreciated Shubman Gill and England’s Zak Crawley for displaying terrific batting.

“I have two or three very good names. You can talk about Gill, who has been absolutely good. You can talk about Zak Crawley. He looked very good. You can talk about James Anderson. He did his job very well as a bowler on such a pitch in both innings," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

“Yashasvi also looked great. Yashasvi Jaiswal played so well. A unique player has emerged for Team India and he has proved himself in tough situations in almost every format. Finding a player like that shows a bright future for Team India," he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s spectacular double hundred helped India post a solid total of 396 in the first innings. Zak Crawley was England’s highest scorer in the first innings having pulled off a commendable knock of 76, helping the visitors score  253.

Shubman Gill then emerged as India’s saviour in the second innings with a brilliant century. After failing to cross the 50-run mark in the last 13 innings, Gill needed a solid score and the young India batter did exactly the same. Facing a promising English bowling line-up, comprising the likes of James Anderson, and Tom Hartley, Gill scored 104 in the second innings.

Chasing a total of 399, the English team folded for 292. Zak Crawley once again displayed fabulous batting skills to score 73 in the second innings. Crawley’s performance, however, went in vain, as the visitors fell short by 106 runs. Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Match for picking up nine wickets in the second Test.

The 106-run victory helped Team India in levelling the five-match Test series 1-1. The third Test is scheduled to start from February 15 in Rajkot.
