Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag & Dhruv Jurel Make T20I Debuts For India Against Zimbabwe
In his first T20I as India's captain on Saturday, Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to field first against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club.

Sunrisers Hyderabad star batter Abhishek Sharma, Rajasthan Royals Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel are making their T20I debuts for India on Saturday (July 6). The trio was named in India’s playing XI for the first T20I against Zimbabwe, which is taking place at the Harare Sports Club. Shubman Gill, who is making his T20I captaincy debut for India, won the toss and opted to field first. During the toss, he announced the inclusion of Abhishek, Parag, and Jurel in India’s playing XI.

While Jurel has experience playing in three Tests for India before, Abhishek and Parag are set to play their first-ever match for India on Saturday (July 6). The former U-19 World Cup winners were picked in the team for the Zimbabwe tour after producing a super show in the IPL 2024.

While Abhishek hammered 484 runs with a strike rate of 204.21 for SRH in 16 matches, Parag finished as the third leading run scorer of the tournament with 573 runs in 14 innings of 16 IPL 2024 matches for RR.

In addition to his explosive batting in the 17th edition of the cash-rich league for the Pat Cummins-led side, Abhishek also picked up two wickets in the second qualifier match against RR on May 24 in Chennai.

In his first T20I for India, Abhishek is all set to bat as an opener for India alongside his childhood friend Shubman, whereas Parag will bat in the middle order. Jurel, on the other hand, will be India’s wicketkeeper-batter. The Agra-born cricketer was preferred ahead of Jitesh Sharma in the playing XI.

Rinku at 5

After travelling with the Indian team in the USA and West Indies as a reserve player, Kolkata Knight Riders star batter Rinku Singh is all set to play for India again. The left-handed explosive batter, who scored unbeaten 69 runs from 39 balls in his last T20I for India against Afghanistan in Bengaluru on January 17, 2024, was unlucky to miss out on a place in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

India’s playing XI for the 1st T20I against Zimbabwe: Shubman Gill (C), Abhishek Sharma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed.
