‘Bhai Jao… Aggressive’: Suryakumar Bursts into Laughter As Sanju Reveals Dressing Room Secret on Camera | WATCH
Speaking to Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju acknowledged the journey to the century was long and challenging, but faith and perseverance helped him achieve it.

Sanju Samson’s blistering century in Hyderabad helped India to whitewash Bangladesh in the 3-match T20I series. On Saturday, the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter smashed his maiden T20I hundred as India posted their highest-ever score – 297/6 – in the shortest format of the game. Sanju bagged the Player of the Match award for his impeccable performance against a clueless Bangladesh attack.

Sanju paired up with captain Suryakumar Yadav in a 173-run partnership for the second wicket on Saturday. After the game, the duo caught up for a candid chat where Sanju expressed his feelings.

“Basically, very happy, out of words, very emotional, very grateful to God that it has happened. Everyone has his own time,” Samson said in a video shared by the BCCI.

He acknowledged the journey to the century was long and challenging, but faith and perseverance helped him reach the moment.

“I just kept on doing my work, kept on believing in myself, and happy that you were there with me to celebrate that hundred,” Samson added, addressing Suryakumar, who was at the non-striker’s end during the achievement.

While batting on 96, Sanju smashed Bangladesh spinner Mahedi Hasan for a boundary down the line to notch up his maiden T20I hundred. Asked by the captain about the mindset, the keeper-batter said he took his chance just because of the mentality and atmosphere that has been created by the new coach and captain in the past few months.

“Nothing but the atmosphere that we have created in the dressing room since Sri Lanka series. The only message is, ‘Bhai Jao… Aggressive’,” he said.

Sanju was intended to keep punishing the Bangladesh bowlers even when he was approaching his hundred. But Suryakumar Yadav asked him to take time and not to let go of the opportunity which he has been waiting for years.

“Aggressive and humble – the two words our captain and coach keep reminding us. That suits my nature so I think, that’s why I kept going for it. Because when I was batting on 96, I said ‘Uda ke karta hun…’ but he asked me to take some time because you have earned it,” he concluded.
