Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis was not amused by the con-flip of match referee Javagal Srinath when Royal Challengers Bengaluru met Mumbai Indians in RCB’s previous game. In a video that has now gone viral, Srinath can be seen bending down to take the coin flipped by MI skipper Hardik Pandya and flipping it, rather inadvertently, before confirming who won the toss.
However, Srinath’s sleight of hand, albeit unknowingly, was picked up by the eagle-eyed social media users and by the RCB skipper du Plessis, who late on Monday during his team’s match against Sunrsiers Hyderabad could be seen narrating the incident to SRH skipper Pat Cummins.

In the video going viral seconds before the toss, du Plessis and Cummins were seen engaging in a conversation. The RCB skipper was seen explaining to Cummins what happened during RCB’s previous game. The clip ended with a surprise Cummins wondering how that happened.

A user wrote, “It’s clearly visible that the one who picks the coin changed the side,” while another one commented, “And look faf, he is not happy with the way coin twisted, why the spider camera is not showing closer the coin.”
A section of users were seen stating the need to zoom in on the coin right after the toss to provide more transparency during the matches, while some also argued that the match official merely lifted the coin and didn’t flip it.
Meanwhile, RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first against SRH at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday. SRH went on to amass 287/3 riding on Travis Head’s whirlwind century – the fastest of the current season in 39 balls and the fourth fastest in the history of IPL.
SRH’s total is now the highest ever total, in not just IPL, but all of franchise cricket, and second only to Neptal’s total of 314/3 vs Mongolia – set during the 2023 Asian Games – in all of T20 cricket.
