This is the second time in IPL 2024 that Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians have been found guilty of the offense.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya will have to shell out Rs 24 lakh in fine after his team was found guilty of not completing their overs within the stipulated time during their IPL 2024 clash with Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday night.

As per a statement from IPL, this is the second time that MI have maintained a slow over-rate this season and hence the quantum of punishment.

MI’s poor form in IPL 2024 continued with the five-time champions crashing to their seventh defeat in 10 matches.

At the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, MI batted first and suffered a top-order collapse as they were reduced to 27/4 in 5.2 overs. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma revived the innings with a 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

However, LSG limited MI to 144/7 with Nehal Wadhera top-scoring for the visitors, hitting 46 off 41 while Tim David playing a brisk knock of 25 off 18.

LSG lost opener Arshin Kulkarni for a golden duck before captain KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis led a solid recovery. Rahul made 28 before being dismissed while Stoinis scored a good half-century, 62 off 45, as LSG chased down the target with four deliveries to spare.

The victory was LSG’s sixth of IPL 2024 which has pushed them to the third spot in the standings behind toppers Rajasthan Royals and second-placed Kolkata Knight Riders.

MI are ninth in the list with six points ahead of bottom dwellers Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
