Harshit picked up two wickets for India D in the third session of the first day's play of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India C in Anantapur.

Star fast bowler Harshit Rana was in action for India D in the Duleep Trophy 2024 match against India C on Thursday (September 5). On the first day of the match, which is taking place at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, Rana managed to pick up two wickets in the final session. He first got rid of India C’s opening batter Sai Sudharsan (7) and then dismissed India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who made five runs from 19 balls.

After getting Gaikwad caught behind in the second slip by Atharva Taide on the fourth ball of the seventh over, Rana gave Gaikwad a flying kiss send-off. The video of Rana’s controversial act after taking a wicket in the premier domestic tournament match is now going viral on the internet.

Harshit was fined by the BCCI in the IPL 2024 for giving a flying kiss send-off to Mayank Agarwal during the match between KKR and SRH at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He was banned for a match when he tried to repeat the act again in the tournament.

India D all out for 164

In the match between India C and India D in Anantapur, a total of 14 wickets fell on the first day. Shreyas Iyer-led India D team was invited to bat first by Gaikwad, and they could only manage to score 164 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 48.3 overs. For India D, all-rounder Axar Patel scored by making 86 runs from 118 balls.

The member of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup-winning team came out to bat at No. 7, and during his stay at the crease, he hammered six fours and as many sixes. Apart from him, no other batter was able to cross the 15-run mark even for India D. There were high expectations from Iyer, but the IPL 2024 winning captain could only manage to score nine runs from 16 balls.

After shining with the bat, Axar made his presence felt in the game with the ball as well. In the final session of the opening day’s play, he got rid of two India C batters for just 16 runs in six overs.
