ICC Champions Trophy to Start From February 19, Final on March 9: Report
The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held in Pakistan but there's no clarity if BCCI will send its team for the competition.

The International Cricket Council has reportedly zeroed in on the window for the next year’s Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan. The tournament will reportedly get underway from February 19 with the final to be held on March 9.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, while the full list of fixtures is yet to be finalised, they will be held within the 20-day period in February-March.

The Champions Trophy was last held in 2017 when Pakistan won the title beating India at The Oval in London. The publication further reported that the ‘tentative dates’ have been shared with the member boards.

However, the biggest question that has remained unanswered yet is whether India will be sending their team across the border given the strained diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Asia Cup in 2023 was also originally slated to be held entirely in Pakistan but after BCCI expressed its inability to send the team across the border citing denial of permission from the Indian government, the tournament was held in a hybrid model with Sri Lanka entering as a co-host.

“We will have some idea in the next two months,” Cricbuzz quoted a source as saying on India’s participation.

As per earlier reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning to host all India games in Lahore. The Indian men’s cricket team hasn’t travelled to Pakistan since 2008.

The top-eight teams of the 2023 ODI World Cup have qualified for the tournament including India, Pakistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

Australia are the most successful team in the competition’s history having won two titles so far. South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, India and Pakistan have won it once each.

Pakistan will be hosting the tournament for the first time in their history. They were to host it in 2008 but back then security concerns meant it went to South Africa.
