DC’s head coach, Ricky Ponting had hinted that they could bring in Shaw back to their starting side. Ponting suggested that not having Anrich Nortje meant that they could not bring in Shaw and opted for four overseas batters in their 11.

“Yeah, Shaw’s pushing for it. He has worked hard in the last couple of weeks. Our team make-up in the first game without obviously (Anrich) Nortje being in allowed us to play four overseas batsmen,” said Ponting ahead of their clash vs CSK.

The five-time champions have maintained the same combination from their previous game against the Gujarat Titans. However, they will face a big test of playing away from home. Results have shown that in the previous 12 games of the 2024 season, the away side has only managed to win a game in one instance. This was when the Kolkata Knight Riders managed to secure the win over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

But CSK have a plethora of bowling options in their arsenal and coupled with MS Dhoni’s tactical acumen, the side could be poised for yet another win to make it three in as many games.
