Sunrisers Hyderabad became the third team to qualify for the playoffs of the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League after their home fixture against Gujarat Titans was abandoned due to rain without a ball being bowled.
SRH and GT shared the points on offer as the hosts took their tally to 15 points. Gujarat, however, suffered a second washed-out game and finished their campaign with 12 points.
As a result of Thursday’s abandoned fixture, the orange cap rankings and the purple cap table remained unchanged.

Orange Cap:
Royal Challengers Bengaluru star batter Virat Kohli remains atop the run-getters list with 661 runs to his name in 13 innings so far in the campaign. The former skipper averages an astounding 66.10 with a strike rate of 155.16.
Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has been in blistering form this season, comes in second behind Kohli with 583 runs in 13 outings this season with a ton and four fifties under his belt.
SRH opener Travis Head stands third in the table, despite having played just 11 innings, with 533 runs. The Aussie has redefined the role of batters in the ongoing season with his astounding batting, which is aptly reflected in his strike rate of 201.89.
Rajasthan Royals batter Riyan Parag, who has well and truly come of age this season, stands fourth in the rankings with 531 runs to his name. GT opener Sai Sudharsan completes the top five run-getters on the list with 527 runs from 12 fixtures in the season.
Purple Cap:
Punjab Kings’ pacer Harshal Patel tops the wicket-takers table with 22 scalps in the tournament thus far from 13 outings.
Mumbai Indians star Jasprit Bumrah, one of just three bowlers this season to register a five-for, comes in second with 20 dismissals under his belt. Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who has managed 18 wickets this season, follows Bumrah in the third position.
RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has the most number of wickets in the history of the tournament, has scalped 17 wickets this year and stands fourth, ahead of fifth-placed Delhi Capitals pacer Khaleel Ahmed, who also has 17 dismissals to his name.
